I'm trying to find information about James J. Womble, who served in Company D of the 30th Texas Cavalry (aka 1st Texas Partisan Rangers). The regiment was organized by Col. Edward Gurley, who like Womble immigrated from northern Alabama to Texas in the early 1850s. Womble was living in Bastrop County. In the summer of 1863, they apparently joined Gano's Brigade in the Indian Territory. James died between 11 and 18 November somewhere in Oklahoma.
