Chronicling Amerca, the Library of Congress has an identical story
from Ardmore and Guthrie newspapers on the discovery of the
remains of the steamboat. Using their search bar, enter, Relic
of War Found. It's not much of an article and I have not been able
to i.d. the two veterans mentioned, via the NPS Soldiers and Sailors
System. These are Captain Van Hoy and McCay Smith, both Confederates.
Still, it does give a little more than we generally know.
