Mike Thompson has provided some interesting notes of CSA Postal Routes in Indian Territory during the Civil War and Price's Raid.
Below is a link to a story about a father and son who were postal riders operating near Carriage Point (near Durant), connecting Boggy Depot, Fort Washita, Bonham TX, and Doaksville/Ft. Towson during this period. (Bruce Schulze of CivilWarAlbum and I came across this story and burial site while relocating the Butterfield Trail historical markers in IT in 2011-12.)
At Carriage Point, Price took the left-had wagon road that went southeast to Bloomfield School (a Chickasaw school that was closed during the war) and then on south to Kemp's Ferry on Red River, and then on southeast to Bonham TX. Kemp Ferry was located about 16 miles downriver from Colbert's Ferry on the Texas Road (and Butterfield Trail) from Carriage Point to Sherman TX.
