"It is interesting that elements of Leonidas Martin's regiment out of Bonham along with Bloody Bill Anderson's boys chased Quantrill's gang out of Texas in the early spring of 64."
Now that was a fascinating fight or near fight. I had uncles with Martin's regiment but unfortunately no surviving accounts about that exciting event. I do know that many shots and shouts were exchanged but all appear not much inclined to harm each other and Martin's men were not about to close with Quantrill's talented fighters under any circumstances as you can imagine. Note that General McCulloch also did not join the pursuit.
I am sure that dramatic day in Bonham was remembered by all involved for many years to come. In addition there must be further accounts of the several thousand returning cavalry of General Price into North Texas somewhere. That would have been big news for the locals and they would have had to be provisioned.
