I note that Capt. Richard Josiah Hinton served on the staff of MG James G. Blunt during Price's Raid on Missouri and Kansas. His description of Federal response to Price's invasion was written shortly after the war and published in late 1865. He later served the United States in several governmental positions, including during the Administration of President U.S. Grant. Hinton's book provides another eyewitness account of Price's retreat in IT, including passing reference to Dwight Mission.
