I couldn't find Blue & Gray locally so I ordered it online. You can probably find it at your local library too. The original transcript had to be significantly shortened to get it to fit in two issues. The limit on space does not allow great detail but fairly thoroughly covers the period. He does a good job of covering the events and battles along with their context.

As someone mentioned in an earlier post, I think all will enjoy the maps. I believe the base map is from the Atlas to the ORs with an overlay of modern day roads. I think many of us were anxious to see how 'controversial sites' are shown, primarily the location of Round Mountain. The maps show Round Mountain in the vicinity of present Mannford. There are two historical markers in this area and I believe this is where Muriel Wright believed it to be [see her Chronicles article from around 1960 that you can find online -- if you can't find it, let me know and I'll send the link]. Other sources and the "Cox Map" indicate it was north of the Red Fork of the Arkansas (i.e. Cimarron River) which is where I believe the main fighting occurred. In my opinion, the theory of it being near Yale in Payne County has no credible evidence.

I'm anxious to hear what others thought of the article. If you haven't read it, do so!
