The Indian Territory in the Civil War Message Board

Reomended Reading to IT researchers

I have just finished reading an exceptional work by Prof. Mark Lause, University of Cincinnati, "Race and Radicalism in the Union Army." An exceptionally well researched work on the effects of race and radical politics on the Indians and blacks serving in the Indian Territory. He puts into perspective how various battles fought in the IT affected the over all racial picture. The book focuses on leaders such as the political figures of Kansas, with William A. Phillips playing a central role in his study, who became as much a victim of the radicals as well as a warrior who refused to yield to those who designed to fill their coffers at the expense of the Indians and Blacks. He uses research materials i personally have not, until now, knew about. Prof. Lause puts into context how the Union political hacks put into motion their many schemes to defraud both Indians and Blacks, yet using them to serve their purposes. Readers will be engrossed from the start of the reading of this fine work which opens new lines of research.
