I'm a long time "fan" of "IT in the Civil War" site. I don't think I've ever posted here, but I'm quite impressed with what I've learned here. I am of Creek-Cherokee descent, but have done most of my research on the Cherokee side. My Creek family name is Yahola and I've tried for years to connect to Opothleyahola with no success. I'm told that Yahola is a fairly common name, but have never found anyone who can help me. My g-g-grandmother was Arlie Sue Yahola (Osoche town) and she married (after the war) William Terrell Davis ("white" teacher for the Creek Agency pre-1861.) I cannot find him in any CW records, but I'm not really good a using military records. Their early married years were spent real close to Wealaka Mission. Can anyone give me a lead on this lady's parentage? Hope this makes sense to someone. :)
