Hello Patti,

Saw this posting on Chickasaw Nation Pioneers, featured 1983 history.

Can you elaborate a little more on the statement below? My Mother was a Muncrief.

The Muncriefs settled at Old Beef Creek.

Thank you, Ralph Biggs

Muncrief, Dennis, "A History of Ft. Arbuckle, It’s People and Times", self-published 2004, Murray County OK (printed Bloomington IN), 274pp; ISBN 1-4184-4205-4. Primary data from Post Reports; Morning Reports, letters, Old Files of Ft. Arbuckle. A treasured reference.
.
Editor's note: Years ago, an older gent of the Fort Arbuckle area told me that as a kid, he and his friend loved to thumb through and read Fort Arbuckle military records. ..He said he'd love to know what happened to those records. ..Well, when I read Dennis Muncrief's book, I knew that Dennis had transcribed the records that this gent was describing. ..Great. ..Every school in the Chickasaw and Choctaw Nations should shelve this book.

Old Beef Creek. ..Beef Creek flows through downtown Maysville, Garvin Co, OK. ..Maysville was originally called "Beef Creek." ..I attended Maysville OK High (1956-1957) ... Our one-room school district, Davis District #47, was transferred to Elmore City OK (graduated in 1960); therefore, I changed schools, even though we did not move. ..My dad was on the Elmore City School board for 10 years and we were acive members of the Methodist Church.

From my book about the 1858 Battle of Wichita Village, near now Rush Springs, Grady Co, OK.
.
Location of the 1858 battle?
.
Since nothing was left to mark the site of the battle, historians disputed its location. Mrs. James A. [Mary Jane (Moncrief) McDonald] Slaton (1857-1947), a Choctaw of Rush Springs, who was born at Fort Arbuckle, sent information to W.S. Nye that located “the battlefield was on the old Huntley farm.” The Huntley sisters (Gertrude and Agnes), were born at Fort Sill, married John Chisum and Joe Abeen Graham (1876-1951), whose dad was Jones Perry Graham of Bourland’s Regt. reference W.S. Nye’s CARBINE AND LANCE (1937).
