I have to agree with your perception on this. I too have encountered such nasty reactions from Payne County supporters.

At one time I attended the Payne county reenactment and was given flyers to hand out to school children, which I did until I read it. There was no mention of the Keystone site at all, not even to mention that there was controversy about the location. So I took the flyers to the person in charge and asked why no mention he told me because there was no serious information that could point to the Keystone site. At that point I attempted a debate on the subject, but he informed me that he had really not studied the situation enough to defend his position, only that what debol had said was good enough for thim.. In my opinion they are not really interested in getting it correct only in promoteing the Payne site.

He could not answer why it would be called the battle of round mountain, at a site of two twin peaks?

In fact he couldn't answer anything I asked.

I quite handing out the flyers after that.

and I am still looking for someone to present the payne county arguement at our Tulsa Civil War Round Table for next year.
