Greetings,
I am the great grand-son of George Washington Crittenden. I am looking or any information on his military history in the Cherokee Mounted Rifles (Riflemen). I read a notorised statement he gave on in 1905. He mentioned "Execpt in the late unpleasantnessfor I moved out before a big army and then returned afterwads(to Indian Teritorry) and have been here ever since". I found some information that the was in a number of companies, (G, H, and K). If I have his correct birthdate he was 14 years old at the time of the great Unpleasantness.
I would be inerested in know what battles he fought in and if he was nominated for a Medal of Honor for the Confederates. My cousin has one in his box of historical memoribilla and there was a letter stating that it was George's.
I have also found the paper work for a $ 2.00 a month stripend form the Gov. as a Veteran's benifit.
Hope you can help.
All the best,
Rod Kerns
