Re: Rev. John Harpole Carr, Camp Carr?

Ken,
From: Leaders and Leading Men in Indian Territory book O'Briene-pg-316-317 this used to be on line but has been removed.
Chickasaw-Choctaw-Tandy C Walker

Bio--This Gentleman was born in July 1840 in San Bois County and is the son of Lewis Walker(D.1842)a Choctaw,and Mary Ann Cheadle,a half-breed Chickasaw Indian. He was educated at Skullyville,and moved to South Canadian in 1858.
At the opening of the war he joined Colonel Carrol's regiment in Arkansas and fought at Wilson creek and other engagements;after which he acted as a scout for Colonel Cooper. In 1863 he was elected Captain and Provost Marshal
for General Hindman,and toward the close of the war fell back amoung the refugee's on the Red River.
In 1865 he married (Mary)Isabella Cochran, the Daughter of Robert L Cochran,was delegled to Treaty of Amnestry at Ft Smith. {Stop the END}
QUESTION'S
(A)-Lewis Walker was the brother to Col Tandy Walker-1814-1877 -so yes he was a (Nephew Col-Ex Gov-Tandy Walker 1814-1877)

(B)-Robert L Cochran-had multi- Indian Wifes- {Deliete Brashears-Cochran}their Dau. was Mary Isabella Cochran she married Tandy C Walker she is also buried at Frisco Cem with next to Tandy C Walker.My cousin(Pam) sent pictures of the stone's' from the grave's site.

(C)-Was he a Lt Col?-
I've never questioned this as my cousin said he was,she had his service record and what family would engrave on a tomestone "Lt Col" on the side by their name if it was not true.
I take it he got promoted- he worked for Gen.Hindman
The Soldier & Sailor system list two Lt Col Tandy-Sandy Walkers in I.I.
A promotion at that time in the war was meaning-less they all were just refugee's anyway, Alot of the records are missing or lost anyway,a picure of in 1898 show's missing his left hand?

William L Cochran - The plot at Frisco where he is buried has a pipe fence around it they call it a family plot, next- they stated his home was {near}-close by--this was wrote many years ago-- this does not mean at this spot, near could be within a mile or so?I guess you can still call it a family plot.I do not want to mis-inform/lead- you offbase
Alot of my information came from that location,(Cochran)family history center, they I think have a map of the old home site- station?
