Ok guys I'm convinced that Wapanucka is Rock academy, that was my first inclination when trying to trace Phillips movements on the maps but it didn't fit very well anything else....
A couple of things that bother me a bit yet as I try to sort this out in my own mind. There was clearly a Confedrate camp and supply cache near the Davis Crossing/Geary station just north of current Atoka, "the Confederate cemetery site". Could this site have been the actual main encampment for Boggy Depot? Wright indicates an encampment on the southwest edge of Boggy Depot but no dates of actual usage.
To throw more confusion if you look at the USGS plats most of the Coal found in the area appears to be along Middle Boggy which is an indicator that the location of Cochran's on Middle Boggy would be accurate however Ken you make a strong argument for Clear Boggy. I would also argue though that Clear Boggy was a name that alluded to the creek below (south/downstream) of Boggy Depot during the war. It was most often refered to as Delaware Creek pre war I think above Boggy Depot.
What I'd like to do is try to pinpoint the actual locations given current mapping techniques and compare reported travel distances. I've found that when competent officers reported x miles traveled they were amazingly close. Then compare the multiple reports of distances between geographical points and see what turns up.
