The Cooper report was what I remembered seeing. I think there is a newspaper article that mentions it as well, in about the same terms.

Moses Alberty, Jr., is mentioned on pages 324-326 of Foreman's "The Five Civilized Tribes" as killing an Arkansan named George Long in 1842 during the confrontations between Watie and the Ross party.
