Ken, This is similar to some of the accounts I've found. I wonder if they were written by the same guy? I'll take some time over the next day or so and transcribe some of mine so you can read through them.

I have found quite a bit of Texas and Indian Territory material in the Columbus and Albany, Georgia, and Eufaula, Alabama, newspapers from 1864-1865. As you know, in those days articles were just passed along and repeated from one newspaper to another. Because these areas were so connected with both Texas and the Territories, I think they took a little extra interest in what was going on west of the Mississippi.
