Hi Patti,
Robt Cochran's was on the south side of Clear Boggy, east of the mouth of Bois d'Arc Creek and just south of present Frisco. The Cochran Cemetery is there. It was right on the road from Ft Arbuckle to Ft Smith. The 29th Texas stopped there on their way from Ft Arbuckle to Camp Butler (Butler Creek just north of Elk Creek near Honey Springs Depot, McIntosh County) and described Cochran's extensive farms. I believe Danny identified where his son Humphrey lived.

Separate question... was Colbert's Mill near Reagan where the Fish Hatchery is now? I couldn't find Ballard Park but that site of the Fish Hatchery fits the descriptions. If Winchester lived up along Clear Boggy, he was a long way from his mill. His slaves may have operated the mill and it seems likely he had a house there too, considering his wealth.

What was the mill that gives Mill Creek its name? Was Colbert's the only mill in Nation at the time of the war? Gristmill or sawmill or both? You may have the same questions I do!

Ken
