Help requested on kepi emblem

Hello,
My name is Neal Griffin, webmaster of the website on the 9th Georgia Volunteer Infantry at:

A descendant has sent me a photo of one of the men in the regiment, Pvt. R.(Richard)S. Force of B Company (Chattooga County, Ga.).Henderson's has this on Pvt. Force:
Force, R. S.------ private March 4, 1862 . Furloughed and paid at Richmond, Va. August 3, 1863 . Died in 1863 .
This soldier is wearing a kepi with 4 (brass?)intials on his hat; either N.G.A.C.??? or N.G.A.L.???????I am not positive exactly what the letters are, or what they stand for.
I have posted a photo of him at:

If anyone could offer any information on this, I would certainly appreciate it, and pass it on to his descendant, a re-enactor. My thanks in advance.

Neal Griffin
