Tom,

All excellent suggestions !

My SCV camp sounds like yours and many others - mostly filled up with older members. The stories we heard and our parents heard about our ancestors are not reaching the younger generation, and they are woefully ignorant of American history in general. This is by design, and not a coincidence. The Founding Fathers have been demonized as slave-owning "racists" by academia, and their sacrifices and accomplishments are ignored. A fellow SCV member related to me a story just today about encountering a young person wearing a T-shirt with a Confederate battle flag. When asked what the flag meant to him, the young man simply stated, "heritage". When asked what the stars on the flag represented, he shrugged his shoulder. The ball has been dropped somewhere along the line.

It will be an ongoing, uphill battle, but nothing like the battle our ancestors endured. Their story needs to told ! We cannot depend on the public schools and National Park Service to do it.

Best Regards,

Greg C. White
