Re: Weaver boys of South Georgia

Jon,

As usual, George was quick to provide great information to your inquiry. Just a little more about Isaac S. and Peter Weaver from my 50th Georgia research. As George referenced, they both joined the 50th Georgia Infantry Regiment (I had ancestors in that all South Georgia regiment).

Isaac was captured a few days after General Longstreet's ill fated assault against Fort Sanders at Knoxville. He was eventually released from the prison at Rock Island, Ill on March 2, 1865. Isaac filed for a Confederate Service Pension in Berrien County in 1909. The pension application states that he was home on furlough at the close of war.

Peter was wounded at Chancellorsville (Battle of Salem Church) on May 3, 1863, and later captured at Cold Harbor on June 1, 1864. He was released from the union prison at Elmira, NY on May 19, 1865.

Feel free to contact me if you have questions about any other ancestors who may have served in the 50th Georgia. Always happy to share.
