Confederate hospital records can be found in

“The Confederacy, A Guide to the Archives of the Government of the Confederate States of America,” Henry Putney Beers, National Archives and Records Administration, Washington, DC

There are eight pages therein listing the various type records of the many Richmond hospitals. They are not easy to review and only contain cursory information on individuals, i.e., admission dates, illness perhaps, death information, etc. Written in long hand old english script, in ink, sometimes faded.

Some of the types of records are: registers of patients covering specific periods; list of deaths, discharges, retirements, returned to duty, transferred, furloughed, and deceased; register of effects; prescription books: clothing issued to patients; etc.

Regarding Chimborazo, there are five individual sets of records for Hospitals Nos. 1-5.
