Men of the 18th Georgia were admitted to a number of different hospitals in Richmond late 1862, making it difficult to hone in on hospital records, and ascertain which of the cemeteries he was interred. Of the causes of death, I’ve found two identified as small pox and typhoid fever.

His record however provides no clue as to the cause or date of his death.

Absent without leave

Reg. Return Nov. 1862, no date, near Fredericksburg, Va.
Sick at Richmond

Co. C Muster Nov. 1, 1862 to March 1, 1864 near Petersburg
Not recorded, assume dropped from the rolls
during this period.
