Jon,

I see zero evidence Edward D. Woodham (1840-1898) served in any capacity. In 1860 he was documented as a 17-year-old farm laborer on his father's Upson County, GA farm. After the war he married and strangely, his first two sons were named William Sherman Woodham and Ulysses Grant Woodham, but then he has sons Robert Lee Woodham and George Washington Woodham ! I checked both Union & Confederate rosters, but found no candidates. I also checked pension applications for both GA & AL. Its possible he had a physical handicap of some kind, or perhaps religious beliefs that exempted him from the service.
