Hi there, Patrick. Lt. Col. James Strickland was a relative of mine. My 3rd great grandfather Julius Strickland was his first cousin...their fathers were brothers. He was not wounded at Browns Mill, he was wounded under ferocious fire at Bald Hill, near Decatur in the Atlanta Campaign shortly after Gen. Hood relieved Gen. Johnston. Some of his men were detached and fought at Browns Mill, the rest fought at Sunshine Church (near Gray, GA>) His cousin John M. Strickland temporarily took command after James was wounded. He suffered a GSW to the lower abdomen/ groin area, and also a gunshot graze to the shoulder or arm. He died several days later, in an army hospital at Barnesville, GA....not Bowersville, as is thought by some researchers. I have seen the Record of death and his service record. Hope that answers your question.
Best regards,
-Chris
