Hi, I am trying to track down the truth on an ancestor named Wiley Hood. He was born 12 Nov 1813 in Georgia, married Sarah Stanley, moved to Polk County, Texas. His second wife was named Martha. Many people on Ancestry.com have him returning to Georgia to join the Confederate Army. Supposedly he enlisted in J T McCluskey's Company, Evans Regiment, Georgia Infantry. Then he died 16 Aug 1864 in Second Battle of Deep Bottom Run, Henrico County, Virginia.

However I seem to find other Wiley Hoods who never left Georgia, and I wonder if they are not being confused with the Texan Wiley Hood, who would have traveled back to GA at the age of 50 to enlist. Possible? I have great respect for the research ability on this board, so if you can help me, I'd appreciate it. Thanks! Alex
