Towaliga, Georgia; November 17, 1864

Per Volume VIII (Alabama volume), p.372 of “Confederate Military History”, there was a military engagement at "Towaliga, Georgia" on November 17, 1864.

Wheeler's Cavalry reportedly had 5 casualties; the Federals had 40.

Alabama commands involved were parts of the 2d AL Cavalry; 53rd AL Cavalry; and the 56 AL Cavalry; Inge's, Perrin's and Miller's regiments.

Were Inge, Perrin & Miller commanding the 3 cavalry units mentioned above?

Per the Official Records, there was also an "affair" @ Towaliga Bridge on November 17th, which members of Joseph H. Lewis’s brigade (CSA) burnt the bridge over the Towaliga River in Monroe County, GA, preventing Kilpatrick’s Union cavalrymen from threatening Forsyth, GA to the south. I’m not aware of any casualties from this “affair”, on either side.

Is there any documentation, accounts or detailed sources available on the November 17, 1864 engagement between the Federals and Alabama Cavalry @ Towaliga, Georgia ?

Where specifically is or was "Towaliga", Georgia ?

Thank you.

Greg
