Gregory, That is the reason why I posted this as they are not relevant to the soldiers of Company I of the 31st Georgia. While in Bainbridge I was looking for the death of John Jackson Knight and knew about when he died in 1904 and he was a member of Company I of the 31st Georgia. If you have ever scanned newspapers on micro-film things go very fast while trying to focus on what your hunting for. I made a copy of this article without reading the entire article. At first I thought they may have been the original soldiers but later research indicated this was not the case. The men in the article belonged to Company I of the 16th United States Infantry who were chosen to go to Manassas as re-enactors in 1904. I had know that Company I of the 31st was with the ANV and at first thought these may have been the actual soldiers but they were not. Apparently some members of Company I of the 16th United States Infantry came from Bainbridge? I don't know why else they would have been in the local paper. Perhaps I was thinking about the 1913 reunion at Gettysburg and thought Company I of the 31st Georgia had been there but they were not. A later article described the event at Manassas in 1904 of having 20,000 soldiers. That in itself is interesting in my opinion.
