J. T. Flanigan, Private, Company K, 16th Regiment Georgia Infantry, enlisted July 25, 1861 in Columbia County, Ga. by Capt. Boyer for the war, detailed as Shoemaker October 17, 1861 at Columbus, Ga., recorded on the Regimental Returns of November 1861 and 1862 as absent, on extra duty & detached service shoemaking, resp., last recorded January 30, 1865 as on extra duty as Shoemaker, Columbus, Ga., no further records

James T. Flanigan, filed for Georgia Confederate Pension in September 12, 1910 from McDuffie County, states he enlisted in Company K, 16th Georgia Infantry July, 1861, detailed as Shoemaker February, 1863, was not with command at the surrender but was at a Columbus, Ga. Shoe Factory when captured and paroled April 16, 1865

There is no indication of physical problems, during the war, or present. It appears that he signed his own name on the pension application.
