Flanigan, filed for Georgia Confederate Pension in September 12, 1910 from McDuffie County, states he enlisted in Company K, 16th Georgia Infantry July, 1861, detailed as Shoemaker February, 1863, was not with command at the surrender but was at a Columbus, Ga. Shoe Factory when captured and paroled April 16, 1865

There is no indication of physical problems, during the war, or present. It appears that he signed his own name on the pension application.
