Re: Army of Northern Virginia General Order No. 87

There are numerous ANV General Orders No. 87, differing by date. Many deal with Court Martials. However, I could not find in the records this particular one. Nor do his company or regimental records reveal information on this subject.

James Castleberry, Private, Company G, 60th Regiment Georgia Infantry, enlisted May 14, 1862 at Savannah by Capt. Colding for the war, wounded at the battle of Fredericksburg, Va. December 13, 1862, admitted General Hospital, Liberty, Va., no date, furloughed by the the Medical Examining Board for 40 days, January 27, 1863, present at the August 12, 1863 muster, subject of a Court Martial August 21, 1863, General Orders No. 87, Dept. of Northern Va., receipted for issues of clothing July 20, 1863, September 17 & October 3, 1864, signing with an ‘X’, his mark, surrendered at Appomattox Court House, Va., April 10, 1865, 18 year old Farmer, born at Sumpter, Ga., 5’ 5”. fair complexion, light hair, blue eyes
