In Response To: Cherokee Springs Hospital ()

My gg grandfather Dr. Wm C Cross served as a surgeon with the Bragg Hospital which was located at the Cravens House in Chattanooga and then removed to Cherokee Springs. The Bragg Hospital name was carried with the hospital as it moved from one place to another.

The official records on Fold3 for John J Huffman indicate that he was sent to the hospital sick on June 8 1863 (name of hospital not listed) and another card indicates that he died at Cherokee Ga July 19, 1863.

Below is a link to the historical marker and location. The marker states that General and Mrs Braxton Bragg were patients at the Cherokee Springs hospital in Aug 1863 and that in Sept the hospital moved out of the path of the invading Federals. (The marker does not mention the location that the Bragg hospital relocated to, but it was Newnan, Ga)
