Enlisted on 7/12/1861 as a Private.
On 7/12/1861 he mustered into "B" Co. GA 2nd Infantry
(date and method of discharge not given)
He was listed as:
* Absent 10/31/1861 Richmond, VA (Sick, no further record.)

John H. Corley, Private, Captain Harris’ Company, 2nd Regiment Georgia Volunteers,* enlisted July 12, 1861 at Greenville, Ga. by Wm. T. Harris for 9 mos 25 days, recorded absent at the Sep/Oct, 1861 muster, sick in Richmond, wounded December 13, 1862,** admitted General Hospital, Farmville, Va. December 21, 1862, gunshot wound, returned to duty February 2, 1863, no further records, occupation listed as Farmer, his file contains correspondence between the Adjutant General, War Department with the Georgia Commissioner of Pensions, dated February 1, 1916

Note, he must have subsequently been dropped from the rolls for some unknown reason as the two subsequent musters held August 31 and December 31, 1864 do not contain his name

He appears to have applied for a pension from the state of Georgia. These papers may reveal additional information as to his service. These may be procured through a service provided by these message boards, see:
