Thank you so much for the wonderful wealth of information about John A. Ramsey! I did locate a state census for 1866 where his mother lists 1 male in the household that was a soldier that died from sickness. She was a widow, listed as Mrs. Emily Ramsey, and her husband Isaac died sometime between 1850-1860, so I am fairly certain this mention is for John A. Ramsey having died, perhaps from illness due to service. He had married and fathered 3 children, but then it appears his wife had died as well during this time period so he was likely living with his widowed mother. His brother William who it appears to have joined up at the same time lived until 1919. This new additional information gives us a better picture of his military service. Once again, thank you!
