I have on my property not one but at least 3 diff locations of rock walls that appear to be handstacked and in some places 5 feet high, not sure if this was some type of farming technique used during clearing the land or possibly some old entrenchment . The age is pre 1900 im positive due to the size of the trees growing through these areas. On one side of all 3 rock walls appears to be ditches..could have been some irrigation for farming who knows but it doesnt hurt to ask for a differant opinion. I have contacted my county historical offices and didnt seem too impressed during our conversation on the phone.
..Does anyone know of any preperation that may have been made in advance of the union armies coming through Georgia in the Jackson county areas in and around Jefferson Ga? Thanks in advance for any information..
