150th Anniversary - Battle of Fort Sanders

For anyone interested, reenactments commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Fort Sanders, in Knoxville, TN, will occur on Saturday, October 12 and again on Sunday, October 13. The reenactments will take place on a farm about ten miles northeast of downtown Knoxville. I haven't attended a previous reenactment of this battle, but understand that the northwest bastion and ditch have been constructed to scale. The November 29,1863, assault on Fort Sanders was part of General Longstreet's ill-fated East Tennessee Campaign to push General Burnside from the area. Several Georgia units participated in the assault, including the 10th, 50th, 51st & 53rd Infantry Regiments (General Goode Bryan's Brigade). I had ancestors in the 50th Georgia and thought it would be interesting to attend the event.
You can Google 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Fort Sanders for the website and additional information.
