The are 2 James Chathams buried in Forsyth county Ga. The one you have listed James Monroe Chatham probly being the biggest source of confusion when it comes to my family research. Everyone gets these 2 confused and there is no connection ar all. My relative is buried in the Castleberry family cemetery and died in 1865. He according to the witness statements and his wifes testimony was captured at Vicksburg Ms. He then spent a considerable amount of time in the hospital before returning home to die in 1865. The pension papers can be found at the georgia virtual vault website under James Chatham.
I just wanted to find more information to back up the claims made in those pension papers. Thanks so much for the information you provided.
