In Response To: Almond Powell ()

Almond Powell, 2nd Corporal, Company E, 64th Regiment Georgia Infantry, enlisted March 1, 1863 at Atlanta, Ga. by Capt. McClusky for 3 years, $50 bounty paid, last recorded present on the muster roll dated August 31, 1863 at Tallahassee, Fla., receipted for an issue of clothing May 9, 1864, no further records

Note, as a later company muster roll exists for the period Sept/Oct. 1864 and he is not mentioned, it would appear that he had been dropped from the rolls on one of the preceding bi-monthly rolls May/June or July/Aug, 1864. This could have been because of discharge, death, desertion, transfer, capture, etc. We have no way of knowing through these records

Company E records contain a Company Muster Roll for Sept. & Oct., 1864 where they were stationed near Petersburg.
"Since last muster the Company has been on duty with the Regiment on the lines in front of Petersburg, Va. But participated in no march or action worthy of note.
S. J. Roberts, 2nd Lt. Comdg. Co."
