If you're asking about Col John Brown Gordon of the 6th Alabama Regiment, here's a painting by Don Troiani of General Lee with Col Gordon at Sharpsburg, Sept 17, 1862. Troiani's painting depicts the dramatic moment when General Lee asked Gordon whether or not the 6th Alabama could hold its position in the Sunken Road.

Gordon replied, "These men are going to stay here, General, till the sun goes down or victory is won."
