Re: McBrayer, 9th Batt, Georgia Cavalry

Hey Mike: Thank you for posting the Andrew Erwin McBrayer (1807-1889) info and particularly the intriguing photo which I assume is Andrew. Correct? If so, could you explain the history and provenance of the photo? You mentioned that Andrew was the father of your 2x great grandmother. He is also the father of my great grandmother Sarah Susannah McBrayer (1854-1908), the youngest of his 13 children, who married William Carrol Waldrop (1851-1936). Andrew and his wife Nancy Ann Leathers (1813-1908) only had three daughters, one, Susannah, of which died in infancy maybe before about 1835. The other daughter was Mary Ann McBrayer, born 1846, married William F. Walker, and died unknown. Which of the two adult daughters was your 2x great grandmother and do you have a photo of her?
In your later post you stated that "Edgar L McBrayer was Andrew's dad". What is the source of your information on that? I do not think that is true. It seems to be well established that the father of Andrew (1807-1889) was John (B.?)(middle initial/ name uncertain) McBrayer (1774-1863) who married Sarah (Sally) Margaret Ashworth (1780-1865). John (B?) was the son of Samuel McBrayer (~1736-1814) who married Elizabeth (? unknown) (~1740-~1787). Samuel's father was William McBrayer (1696-1795), our immigrant ancestor from presumably Dumfries, Scotland to PA at his Williamsburg Plantation near Chambersburg, with his wife, Rebecca (?unknown from Ireland) (1704=1805).
I look to hearing back from you, especially about the remarkable photos!

My best regards, cousin,
