Nobody named Spikes on roll with the 61st Georgia Regiment. Daniel Spikes enlisted in the same company as Joel and Peter Spikes, Co. "F", 26th Georgia Regiment, the "Okefenokee Rifles" from Charlton County. Daniel received a discharge in December 1861.

There is a later record for Daniel Spikes, who enrolled in Co. "H", 12th Georgia Regt., Sept. 17, 1863. In 1914 someone using his name applied to the pension board of the State of Georgia.
