1st Florida Cavalry-Soldier not on rolls?

I am searching for my 4th Grandfather, Washington L. Barley. Originally enlisted in Confederate Florida 11th Infantry K, I in 1863. He dropped off the rolls in late 1863. Then I found a pension record that his wife Virginia Grant filed and she stated that he served in the Union Army, 1st Florida Cavalry company B or C. She was denied her pension because they could find no proof of his union service. The pension record was so interesting since many folks submitted affidavits stating that Barley did serve for the Union. So I went searching for proof and of course, I can't find anything. I would love to know of any other way I can search for records to prove his service. Thanks so much!!
