I don't want to believe regimental IDs on these flags were fabricated, but it's anybody's guess as to how U.S. authorities got so many wrong.

For instance, another flag captured at Nashville was supposed to be that of the 13th Alabama Regiment. This unit served with the Army of Northern Virginia.
