I am picking up the standard so to speak since I was one of the site's originators.

There is a domain name problem which we are working on. The site will be back up soon.

I do have to state categorically, however, and this is the feeling of the many people that have helped make this site the best and most accurate on the Internet for Confederate flags, that we are seriously considering pulling it down after this year.

There are some people out there who write things for CS flags that use our site for source material - which is fine - but they do not credit the site in their works - which is not fine and highly unethical. I know several excellent Civil War web sites that have been pulled down for the same reason - people purloining things from the site without giving credit. No true historian would do this for it is, indeed, unethical.

We created this site because all of the other CS flags web sites are PURE CRAP loaded with mythology more than fact. The Flags of the Confederacy web site is loaded with over 300 years of combined solid, historical research and we created it to get the story of these flags accurate for the first time on the Internet. Some of us have spent YEARS and thousands of dollars of our own money to do this research for various book and article projects that we are involed with and we were happy to SHARE it with the world via the web site. But we fully expect to be credited for that.

It really SUCKS when people come along and use stuff from the site - and a recent work used a few things that I personally found in my own research and placed on the site - that does not credit the site as a proper historian would do.

Am I mad over this? You bet!

We had a lot of new plans for the site like placing battles and campaigns showing what flags were captured at each along with a new essay I am currently doing on the battle flags of the Confederate cavalry of the Western Theater. All of this may not happen now thanks to the unscrupulous.

We are still discussing the fate of the website long term and if it comes down those that abused it have only themselves to blame. In the meantime we are working with the domain server to get it back up.
