Thank you for your response sir. I refer to that flag as the regimental but in fact it is the National colors as you have said and I know this. When the flag is carried on the regimental level that is why I refer to it as such, for the flag above the HQ is the national colors. Thats awesome that your from Celina,Ohio I used to do the events down there every year. As far as the flags being all silk in that your are mis-informed. A while back in Paulding ,Ohio at an event a local woman brought out 7 original CW flags all made from cotton and they were in mint condition save for the humidty controlled safe they are stored in and the last time they saw light of day was 10 years prior. I have included the order form for Hortsman & Bros. and Evans&Hassell which made all the Pa. flags and not all of the regiments flags were made by them. It was not a requirement for those company's to make those flags as they were purchased by the company(unit) themselves not the government. I have already read and bought those books that you have recommended as well as done extensive research as in driving to museum's close and far away to get each flag I make correctly. I make all these flags by hand as I have the scars on my finger tips to prove it. I have yet to see anyone match the level of quality that I garuntee with each flag I produce. I use cotton for my flags for it lasts longer in the end, if a customer wanted silk I would gladly use silk unlike some I have seen making flags out of polyester taffida with a sewing machine.
