Thanks for the information, I have not seen this reference before. I would think that this flag was a peace flag and not a war flag. Eastern Nations since 1830 (“Trail of Tears”) or before used a red flag with white symbols, in the case of the Cherokee stars, for a war flag. I would presume this tradition would be so with the Western Nations during this time period, it’s worth further investigation.
