Upton attacked with 5,000 men and he says he lost about 1,000 men. Only 1 flag was lost and the 20th nc took a flag from the 49th Pa. This was one of the first three regiments to attack. If Upton lost 1,000 men, the 49th Pa lost 1/4th of that total. Or 475/249.
