Re: 63rd Va. &Hardee Pattern Flag

Ken,

Jeff is a native of Grayson County, Virginia and he has delved into the history of the community quite extensively. He told me of the flood in our area but I cannot recall the exact location he mentioned in our conversation. We were at Jeff's house and he showed me his reproduction flag which he flies in honor of his ancestors. At the time I was researching an artillery battery, Levi-Barr's, and Jeff happened to mention the 63rd's original flag and how , as the original had been lost in a flood, he had to use the 54th Virginia's existing flag as a pattern. It was Jeff's urging which caused us to name our SCV camp Marshall's Rifles. Upon reading your post I placed a call to Jeff and am waiting for him to return it. I will post the info as soon as I hear.
