Re: Gen, George Sears Greene CW Flag

As an appraiser, I have come across a Civil War flag that has provenance to Gen, George Sears Greene of the 60th New York Volunteers. This flag has written 19th C. documentation that the flag came from Gen. Greene and ended up being taken home by. Gen. John Geary. The letter that accompanies the flag is written by Gen. Geary's nephew. The flag is approx. 30" wide and is 33" long having three horizontal stripes of red, white and blue, each being approx. 11" wide.

The flag has been analyzed by the historical fabric dept. at the University of Rhode Island and the dept. head has stated that the flag material is of the period. The woven rope is still through the upper end.

I am attempting to identify this flag and my client has asked that I assist them in its sale.

If any one can assist me in this flag's identification, I would be thankful. Please contact me directly if you need to view images of the flag.
