Ken Legendre, flag historian, passes

Hello,

It is with great sadness that I announce the passing yesterday of flag historian Ken Legendre. I have known Ken for over 30 years and we shared a lot of flags research together as well as battlefield tours. His collection of flags papers was massive and the fruits of his many trips across the nation doing research from universities to state archives down to county historical societies over nearly 40 years of serious digging. Ken was a bulldog for flags research and compiling his papers. He shared information with authors, museums and others working on flag books and more.

We sometimes argued over things but it was his passion that was behind it even when we disagreed on things. I learned a LOT over the years and would not be the flags historian that I have become if it was not for Ken, Howard Madaus, Deveraux Cannon and some others who have passed on.

Let's all be thankful for what Ken has contributed on flags.
