1st Louisiana Infantry

A BATTLE FLAG WANTED - Over the signature of Ernest Wiltz the Richmond Enquirer offers the following: Information is wanted of the whereabouts of the battle-flag of the First Regiment Louisiana Volunteers. Color-bearer Clancey was captured at Gettysburg and taken to Fort Delaware. He kept the flag around his body during the whole time of his imprisonment. He was exchanged, and returned to Richmond in October 1863. While here he left the flag in the custody of some one, whose name can not be ascertained. The undersigned, in behalf of the First Louisiana, would be pleased to hear anything concerning the flag. - New Orleans Republican, Friday September 10, 1875
