Greg, good points and glad you took a,peek at it. I believe he was referring to Hawthorne’s flag taken by 33rd MO of which there is no picture but only a written description in a letter. The thing that jumps out at me is 1) there are no other battle honors. The 32nd fought at Prairie Grove, Helena, and Little Rock as well. Why aren’t these on there? 2). No known connection of 32nd to McCown whatsoever. I felt, like you, it looked a little too good of condition and some of the sewing seemed suspect with what little I know about actual manufacture etc. yes if he could get it to someone who knows about such things would be great. Hope he visits his state archives to obtain name of possible folks who could provide insight.
