Hi Michael,

There is a chance this unit got an Augusta Depot flag before they left the west (March 1864) but only if they came from Dalton, GA where these flags were issued. Stewart Sifakis has them taking part in Sherman's Meridian Campaign of Feb-March 1864 which places them in Mississippi. If that is the case then they could have received their 12 star Mobile Depot flag before heading East. If they got a flag at all before leaving the west this is probably the pattern.
